SUMMARY:Habitat Gardening for Birds
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered what more you could do to support our bird population\, whether in your own garden or in parks or other public spaces? On Thursday\, October 19th at 7:00 pm\, the Bolton Hill Garden Club will host an Audubon Society program on Habitat Gardening for Birds at the Memorial Episcopal Church\, Farnham Hall (second floor)\, 1407 Bolton Street. Come and join us to learn how to garden for a more bird-friendly habitat. The program is free and open to all. \nThe program will be presented by Erin Reed Miller\, Senior Coordinator of Bird-Friendly Communities with the Audubon Society’s Mid-Atlantic Baltimore Program. Ms. Reed Miller has been at Audubon since 2011\, as an Educator\, Education Manager\, and now Bird-Friendly Communities Coordinator. She works with communities to thoughtfully increase bird-friendly habitat while meeting those communities’ varied goals. In 2016\, she was named the Tamar Chotzen Audubon Educator of the Year. \nMs. Reed Miller earned her BS in Wildlife Conservation and an MS in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Delaware. There she researched the connection between native plant species and insect communities in the lab of Dr. Doug Tallamy\, author of Bringing Nature Home. She has since served as an interpretive naturalist and environmental educator in Delaware\, Oregon\, Pennsylvania and Maryland. \nThe evening will begin at 7:00 pm with light refreshments\, followed by the program’s start at 7:30 pm. The program will conclude at 8:30 pm\, followed by a brief Q & A session. Please bring an hors d’oeuvre or other snack to share. The Garden Club will provide beverages. \n
