SUMMARY:Tiffany Series Concert Features Leonard Bernstein Work (and his son!)
DESCRIPTION:				 \nLeonard Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms” will be performed by the combined choirs of Brown Memorial Presbyterian Church and Beth El Congregation on Sunday\, May 5 at 3 p.m. at Brown Memorial\, 1320 Park Avenue\, in the Bolton Hill section of Baltimore.  A reception will follow. \nTom Hall will conduct\, and Michael Britt will play the organ accompaniment.  Alexander Bernstein\, the composer’s son\, is coming to the performance and will be interviewed by Tom Hall as part of the event. \n“Chichester Psalms”  is Bernstein’s emotional plea for reconciliation and peace in the world. Jazzy and contemporary\, it is filled with gorgeous melodies as well as unusual harmonies\, rhythms and meters (and echoes of “West Side Story”!). \nThe choir will also perform the premiere of Cantor Thom King’s “Psalm 24” as well as C. Hubert H. Parry’s “I Was Glad.”  This concert celebrates Brown Memorial’s 150th Anniversary. \nTickets to this Tiffany Series concert are $20. Students get free admission. Patron tickets are $50. (Patrons get a free CD of a Tiffany Series concert and our heartfelt gratitude.)
