Why become a BHCA member?
The Bolton Hill Community Association (BHCA) is a 501(c)3 organization that strives to keep the Bolton Hill community connected and to maintain a vibrant neighborhood, with green parks, lively events, and safe and pedestrian-friendly streets. BHCA monthly meetings provide a forum for Bolton Hill’s diverse community to stay informed about local matters and to respond to issues that arise in and around the neighborhood. BHCA also serves as the official liaison between Bolton Hill and elected officials, government agencies, and neighboring institutions and organizations.
What BHCA Membership Supports
BHCA is entirely run by volunteers, so your membership dues directly support or provide:
- Communications that keep the Bolton Hill community informed. BHCA maintains the website for Bolton Hill, which includes the online calendar of events around the neighborhood and Bolton Hill Bulletin, the BHCA Facebook page, and the BHCA Instagram handle. BHCA also distributes timely community information via the Bolton Hill Email Network (BHEN) through Mailchimp.
- Events that enhance quality of life in Bolton Hill. BHCA funds and organizes events throughout the year such as Festival on the Hill, Arts in the Parks, and the Crab Feast and Picnic honoring first responders and those who keep the neighborhood clean and green.
- Greening activities that beautify Bolton Hill. BHCA has helped fund greening maintenance and projects such as planting trees and native plants, expanding tree wells, and maintaining fountains in the neighborhood.
- Guidance to preserve the historic character of Bolton Hill. The Architectural Review Committee provides information and meets with property owners to help them adhere to the exterior design requirements for the Bolton Hill historic district.
- Liaises with City agencies and officials for the betterment of Bolton Hill. BHCA works with the City Department of Transportation to make streets safer for pedestrians; the Department of Housing and Community Development to redress neglected and mismanaged properties and resolve zoning issues; and the Police Department in conjunction with the Midtown Community Benefits District and MICA to maintain public safety and security.
