A murder of crows: aerial extravaganza is back above the community

Every evening at dusk, huge numbers of crows begin to swoop and soar as they move south though Bolton Hill airspace. From our porch (perch) on Bolton Street, they appear to be moving south between Eutaw Place and Mason Street, making brief stops on the tall trees and roofs before making their final way to communal roosting spots south of Bolton Hill. At dawn, the crows leave their roosts in mass and return north to feed, waking up sleeping humans with their caws.

Fall bird migration brings new colors and sounds to the neighborhood

The fall bird migration is underway and for attentive residents of Bolton Hill, that means an opportunity to spot a wide range of birds that are passing through, heading south for the winter months.  If not in your yard, look for them in neighborhood and other nearby parks where each night they come down from the skies in search of insects or berries, water and a safe place to rest.
