“Community. It’s more than a word; it’s a feeling that overwhelms when people choose to spend their valuable time to help.” That’s what Mt. Royal Elementary/Middle School Principal Steve Skeen said after he sent out a cry for help with shoveling snow after Baltimore City Public Schools announced the end of snow days and re-opening the schools.
On short notice, 24 residents showed up to shovel on a cold Sunday morning, turning an all-day job for one into about two hours of snow removal.
That same week, parents of children who attend the Bolton Hill Nursery School cleared out the piles of snow left behind by the plows so that cars could reach the curb to safely discharge the children and teachers could park.
Said Skeen: “We are so fortunate to be a part of this community.”
