As a dog owner, I often walk up the streets and down the alleys of Bolton Hill. In my travels, I’ve followed the progress of many a renovation project. I’ve learned how generous neighbors are with their decommissioned items – leaving doors, radiators, mantle pieces, and other fixtures for salvage in the alleyways.
After decades of mostly ignoring federal law requiring curbs and sidewalks to meet the needs of disabled pedestrians, the city has entered into yet another consent decree with the federal government. It is an outgrowth of a class action legal confrontation with a Maryland disability rights coalition.

Cars are expensive to own, costly to operate, maintain and insure, always in need of parking space and, generally, not good for the planet. Lately they seem to attract carjackers and thieves, as well. So, what’s the solution?
Last month, BHCA urged the city’s Department of Transportation to move forward on plans for a bike lane along Eutaw Place, but to take note of concerns of businesses and residents about the continuing need for car parking along the street.
