About BHCA

The Bolton Hill Community Association, Inc., started out as The Mount Royal Improvement Association, Inc. in 1928, and became a 501(c)3 nonprofit known the Bolton Hill Community Association in 2018 to better reflect the identity of the community. The mission of BHCA is to preserve and improve the quality of life of residents and continue to make Bolton Hill the premier neighborhood of Baltimore in which to live. BHCA is committed to historic preservation and maintaining an attractive residential character with supportive institutional and commercial neighbors.

With over 600 households who live or work in the neighborhood, BHCA strives to keep the neighborhood vibrant and healthy, with lively streetscapes, green parks, and safe and child-friendly streets.

BHCA provides the forum for this diverse community to define issues, take advantage of opportunities, and respond to challenges. BHCA also serves as the recognized liaison neighborhood association with City departments and neighboring institutions and organizations.

BHCA membership is open to any tenant, resident, homeowner, landlord, business owner, institution, corporation or other non-profit group. Individuals such as elected officials, people who work in the community, or simply have a strong affinity to Bolton Hill, are all welcome to join. BHCA elects seven Officers and 30 Board members to oversee the business of the organization and vote on matters affecting the Bolton Hill community. Any BHCA member or Bolton Hill resident can assist with and participate in BHCA committees and activities.
