Renewed and reorganizing, Midtown District begins the new year

After a tumultuous 2025 in which the continued existence of the quasi-public Midtown Community Benefits District and Management Authority was in doubt, Midtown begins this new year with a new board and interim director and with plans to audit and beef up needed services to residents of Bolton Hill, Charles North, Madison Park and the Mt. Vernon-Belvedere neighborhoods.

Midtown moves forward with new board, interim director

The new Midtown Community Benefits District and Management Authority Board was sworn in on Aug. 6 by Clerk of the Court Xavier Conaway, and a reorganization has begun with a series of board reviews and staffing changes. That follows the “Yes” vote by property owners in Bolton Hill, Madison Park, Charles North and Mt. Vernon in a March referendum re-establishing the special district.

Midtown working to revive old Barnes & Noble location

Maybe this is a good idea? Midtown Benefits District (AKA tax-supported Midtown Baltimore) is partnering with the owners of Fitzgerald Apartments and an arts consultant for a 12-month pop-up use of the long-empty former Barnes & Noble bookstore that served the University of Baltimore and the neighborhood.
