Musical lineup announced for Boltonstock 2018

Bolton Hill’s biggest summer event, Boltonstock 2018, is slated to take place on Saturday, June 2, 5–10 pm in Sumpter Park (Laurens at Linden.) This annual summer festival celebrates its fourth year, thanks to organizers Chas Phillips and Jessica Wyatt.
Members of Classical Revolution will open the festivities, performing live chamber music with a twist.
Things will kick up a notch with Ursula Ricks and her band. Born in Baltimore and raised in Texas, Ursula’s music takes you on a journey through a life of funk, soul, and neo-blues music and has earned her the title, “Queen of Baltimore Soul.”
The evening wraps up with DJ Ellen C Lovelidge (on Twitter & Instagram @djlilelle), whose grooves will have everyone dancing in the park.
Throughout the evening, street musician Merdalf will again delight the younger crowd with songs and balloons in the area by the playground and bocce court. The popular basketball hoop and other rec equipment will be on hand to engage the teen crowd (Thanks Jeff Dugan!), and cornhole boards and bags courtesy of the Toolbank.
Burgers, hot dogs, and the always popular Catoctin Mountain Farm bratwurst fresh from the grilled will be available for purchase. Pierogies and vegetarian options will also be available, including tacos-in-a-bag with vegan chili.
Music fests always make one thirsty. Quench yours with a nice selection of summer-friendly wine and draft beers, as well as non-alcoholic options.
This year’s local non-profit info tables will include Fathers in the Hood, Jubilee Arts’ Youth in Business Program, Jazz Expressways Foundation, Communities United, Corpus Christi Church, The Garden Church, No Boundaries Coalition, and
Wide Angle Youth Media. Boltonstock is a great way to find out about the excellent nonprofits serving our community and how you can contribute.
RSVP and follow the event on Facebook to receive updates and invite your friends. Then bring blankets, chairs, games, and cameras, and use hashtag #Boltonstock18 to share.
