When the steering committee of Bolton Hill’s Gray Panthers group decided to stage a salute to people who have lived in the neighborhood for half a century or more, they started out with just a half dozen names.

But as they scratched their heads, thumbed through old directories and chatted with neighbors they ultimately compiled a list of about 40 people who are still living in Bolton Hill 50 years after moving here, plus a few who live nearby after 50 years in Bolton Hill. They were celebrated and many attended an event held Feb. 28 at Linden Park Apartments Community Room.

Not all could attend, but you can admire and salute those who were among those identified as “golden” residents: Cristine Barnes, Barry and Barbara Blumberg, Henri Daniels, Barbara Coleman White, Stevie Coppola, Lynn Cripps, Jo-Ann Orlinsky, Valerie Olson, Sara Murnane, Donald and Karen Helm, Doug Kelso and Claudia Sennett, Carol Hylton, Merry Rogers, Lottie Shivers, Suzie Thieblot, Steve and Louie Wilder, Tod Myers, Jimmy Wilson, Linda Lapides, Carl Shur and Wil Love, Jim Brown, Joan Feldman, Connie Leider, Kenny Williams, Dave and Sandy Spector, Gus and Freddie Courpas, Lynne Menefee, Sally Gold and Eliot Zulver and Jamie Cunningham.

If you know of other “golden” Bolton Hill residents, please submit their names and contacts to graypanthers@boltonhillmd.org. Gray Panthers is a name adopted by a subgroup of BHCA members 60 and older, along with younger friends and admirers, who are aging in place in Bolton Hill. It is led by Lynn Cripps, Sarah Holley, Gayle Guilford, Beth Cole, Barbara Coleman White, Bill Hamilton and Barry and Barbara Blumberg.
