Bolton Hill’s oldest watering hole – a nationally noticed dive bar – has new owners for the first time in many years. One of them lives in the neighborhood.

According to the Baltimore Banner, the four new owners of the Mt. Royal Tavern include Nicholas Wisniewski and Daniel Deacon of Baltimore plus Marlon Ziello and artist Derrick Adams, both of Brooklyn, NY. Together they formed a company called One Distinct, LLC. The LLC is registered to Wisniewski. Deacon is a musician and composer who lives in Bolton Hill.

Some years ago, Esquire magazine listed MRT as one of the best dive bars in America. Some locals call it The Dirt Church. Scuzzy and ill-lighted, it nevertheless commanded an $800,000 sales price.
