It’s not an exaggeration to say that this month’s Festival on the Hill — the 65th annual — was among the very best. Great volunteer participation, great weather and hundreds of neighbors turning out made the Oct. 5 event really special.
It’s nearly autumn and almost time for Bolton Hill’s Festival on the Hill. Volunteers and contributions are needed to assure the success of the annual neighborhood block party that dates back more than 65 years. It’s free and open to all, in the 1300 block of Bolton Street and nearby from 9 a.m. until day’s end.
If you live or work in Bolton Hill, you’re invited to MICA’s Weekend Kickoff reception to meet the school’s new president, Cecilia McCormick, at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27 at Lazarus Center,131 W North Avenue.
Because we are blessed with nearby parks, talented neighbors and energetic community leadership, this summer offers Bolton Hill residents, family and friends of all ages lots of opportunities to celebrate outdoors together.
The Organ Historical Society will present its 2024 annual convention in Baltimore July 20-26, with programs and organ concerts around the city and in Bolton Hill.

If your walks, jogs or drives take you through the 1600 and 1700 blocks of Park Ave., you’ve probably noticed some changes in the medians over the last couple of years.
About 30 neighborhood residents were appropriately “Curious about Cannabis” and attended an Oct. 25 evening salon with that theme hosted by BHCA’s Gray Panther caucus of older residents.
It rained off-and-on from morning past noon, but that did not deter early-arrivers at this year’s Festival on the Hill – especially those lining up to be first in line for used books and “Juniquities” bargains.
It’s fall, and thus it is time once again for Festival on the Hill, the more-or-less annual celebration of autumn weather and community togetherness that has been happening around here since the 1950s.
