Also known as Freedom House, the house was an important site during the Civil Rights Movement, and home to prominent African American members of the Baltimore community.
Despite efforts undertaken by Baltimore Heritage and other preservation-minded folks, Bethel A.M.E. Church, which has owned the property for decades, decided to demolish the building rather than renovate.
